PUNE: THE IDEAL DESTINATION FOR ALL AGES


Pune, is the second largest city of Maharashtra, after Mumbai and seventh largest metropolis of India.  Located near Mumbai, the capital of Maharashtra, it is one of the major growing industrial city of India. The city bags the title of “Cultural Capital of Maharashtra”. Now a metropolitan city, Pune was known to have its existence as a town in 847 AD. The city has witnessed numerous incidences of the past but has gained popularity in terms of heritage and historical importance, with the rise of  Maratha ruler Shivaji.

The city of Pune has gained cosmopolitan identity with the fastest growing IT industry, educational and professional institutions. Pune has a homogeneous amalgamation of crowd from all over India and abroad.  The city shows its rich density towards the authentic traditional virtue at par to the cosmopolitan mindset.

The main language spoken is Marathi, Hindi & English. Apart from this, the young generation also take active interest in learning foreign languages like French and German.

The climate in Pune is very pleasant as compared to the other cities in India. Pune experiences a very moderate climate with an average temperature ranging from 20-30 degree Celsius. The city relishes three major seasons mainly:  summer, monsoon and winter in a year.

Given the title of “Oxford of the east”, Pune has justified the honour with its enormous option of educational institutes. As a result, Pune is becoming one of the major options for expansion of IT and manufacturing industries. Today, it is the seventh largest metropolitan city providing sixth highest income to the country.

Pune also hosts a plethora of tourist spots within and around it. The rich cultured city is the house of world famous Osho Ashram. Numerous forts and monuments highlight the historical prominence of the city. The famous forts: Sinhgad and Shivneri, witnesses the golden era of great Maratha warrior Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Aga Khan Palace located at the heart of the city gains its importance for being the shelter for imprisonment of Mahatma Gandhi, during India’s freedom movement. The city has numerous temples and religious shrines. The famous amongst the lot are, Dagdu Sheth Halwai Ganapati Temple and Chaturshringhi Temple. The geographical location of Pune, allows its close vicinity to the hill stations of Mahabaleshwar and Matheran; and the sea beaches of Alibaug, Dapoli, Kashid, Ganpatipule.

Hence, the city gains huge popularity in terms of rich educational hub, outstanding job opportunities and varied tourism options. Thus, it is popular destinations for all ages.
