Print Media and Digital Media - The debate continues....

With enormous expansion of technology and the easy internet access, like its peer domains, media has also expanded its hands embracing the online or digital platform, forcing its conventional print platform to take a back seat. It would be worth a debate on digital media vs. print media, as according to recent studies, it is reported that nearly 121 million of Indian population are using internet on daily basis and are showing more interest in enormous expansion of digital media. The report also emphasizes on the fact that the percentage of population using the digital medium has accelerated considerably in small towns/cities, giving the metros a close and tough competition. Another fact we can’t ignore is the digital media is getting more fame among the youth as compared to the senior citizens in India.

It won’t be wrong, if we comment on the fact that the abundant use of smart phones to remain connected to the social media as well as social networking sites, has acted as a catalyst to the present scenario. The inquisitiveness of the crowd for getting an update on any news has been satisfied by the digital platform.  “You name it…and get it”, has become the moral tag line of almost all the online publishing houses. It has become more convenient to read news online, as you don’t need to prepare a separate rack for accumulating those bunches and call a scrap dealer to empty those once in a week. It definitely saves your time and energy. It is just a click away instead, free of cost (apart from the internet charges applicable) and gives you a variety of your choice at a time and most importantly, it’s never ending. One can browse through a numerous online news sites and social networks that provide news updates of your choice.

So, is the digital media indirectly making a way to grab the whole attention and concentration of the fellow patrons of conventional print media? Well…on a true note indeed it has been able to satisfy the hunger of news and information seeking people anytime and every time, anywhere and everywhere. But just imagine, to be served a cup of tea, early in the morning with a TABLET or a LAPTOP or a SMART PHONE and get instructed to browse through the news online!!!! Honestly speaking, sipping a cup of tea every morning, with a NEWSPAPER in hand till date is considered to be a great combination.

In a nutshell, both the media digital and print has its own charm and importance, serving for a common purpose. Although one might be more popular than the other and may have different reader base but still both the media synchronizes their existence.
